Privacy Policy for Dozy
Effective date: 11.06.2026
Dozy ("the app", "we", "us") is a baby monitor app. This policy explains what data Dozy does and does not process, and your rights regarding it. It applies to the Dozy Android app.
Our core privacy principle
Dozy is private by design. It works by connecting two of your own devices over your local Wi-Fi network. Your baby's video and audio are sent directly between your devices and never pass through, or are stored on, our servers or any cloud service. We cannot see, hear, or access your camera streams, recordings, or snapshots.
Information we do NOT collect
- We do not collect, transmit, or store your video or audio streams.
- We do not require an account, name, email, or password to use the app.
- We do not upload your snapshots, recordings, activity logs, or any media to any server.
- We do not sell or rent any data to anyone.
Information processed only on your device
The following is created and stored locally on your devices and is never transmitted to us:
- Live camera and microphone feeds — used solely to provide the live monitor between your paired devices over your local network.
- Snapshots and recordings you choose to save.
- Activity log and detection events (sound, cry, and motion detections) with timestamps.
- Audio/video you add as lullabies or sleep media.
- Pairing information (such as the PIN/QR link between your devices) and app settings.
You control this data entirely. You can delete it at any time from within the app, or by uninstalling Dozy.
Information we do collect (diagnostics and reliability)
To keep the app stable and functioning, Dozy uses Google Firebase services, which collect limited, non-personal technical data:
- Firebase Crashlytics — collects crash reports and diagnostic information (e.g. app version, device model, operating system version, and the state of the app at the time of a crash) so we can fix bugs.
- Firebase Analytics — collects anonymous, aggregated usage data (e.g. which screens are opened, feature usage, app opens) to help us improve the app.
- Firebase Remote Config — used to deliver configuration and to notify you when a critical app update is required. This involves a small configuration download and does not collect personal content.
This data is tied to an app-generated identifier, not to your identity, and never includes your camera feeds, recordings, or any baby-monitoring content. Where the app offers an analytics opt-out in its settings, you can disable optional analytics there.
Device permissions and why we use them
- Camera — to capture video on the device acting as the baby camera. Used locally only.
- Microphone — to capture and play audio between your devices (monitoring and two-way talk). Used locally only.
- Notifications — to alert you to detected sounds, crying, or motion, and to show the ongoing monitoring notification.
- Local network access — to discover and connect your paired device on the same Wi-Fi.
- Ignore battery optimizations (optional) — to keep monitoring reliable while the screen is off.
- Run foreground service — to keep the camera or monitoring connection active in the background.
Permissions are used only for the purposes above and never to collect content for us.
Legal basis for processing (GDPR)
For users in the European Economic Area and the UK, we process the limited diagnostic data described above on the basis of our legitimate interest in maintaining a secure, stable, and functional app, and/or your consent where required (for optional analytics). All baby-monitoring content is processed on your own device under your own control and is not processed by us.
How your data is shared
We do not sell your data. Diagnostic data described above is processed by Google (Firebase) acting as our service provider/processor. We do not share data with advertisers or other third parties. Dozy contains no third-party advertising.
Data retention
- Content on your device (recordings, snapshots, events, settings) remains until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- Diagnostic/analytics data held by Firebase is retained according to Google's standard retention periods and our configured settings, then deleted or anonymized.
Security
Connections between your paired devices are encrypted in transit. Because your monitoring content stays on your own devices, the main protection for that content is the security of your devices themselves — we recommend using a device lock and a secure home Wi-Fi network.
Children's privacy
Dozy is a tool intended for use by parents and caregivers (adults). It is not directed to children and is not designed for children's use. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. The app captures video and audio of a child only locally, on the parent's own device, under the parent's control, and never transmits it to us.
International data transfers
Firebase services may process diagnostic data on servers located outside your country, including outside the EEA. Where this occurs, Google applies appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for such transfers.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Because Dozy requires no account and keeps your monitoring content on your own device, much of your data is already under your direct control and can be deleted within the app or by uninstalling. For the limited diagnostic data we process, you can contact us using the details below to exercise your rights. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Third-party services
Dozy uses Google Firebase. Google's handling of data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and the Firebase Privacy and Security information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the app.
